Board of Directors Meeting

November 2, 2006

ATTENDEES: Heman Adams, Scott Cobble, Phil Friedman, Ruth Grant, Ron Harden, Lynne Hull, Joel Hurmence, Diann Johnston, Barbara Jones, Bill Miller, Sue Riffe, Shelagh Tupper, John Waddell.

OTHERS PRESENT: Eric Deonso, Larry Griffin, Karl Krahnke, Jessie Meschievitz, Joann Thomas.

CALL TO ORDER: President Joel Hurmence called the meeting to order at 7:06 P.M.

INTRODUCTIONS: Of prospective FCAS Board candidates / Q&A – All:
Everyone introduced themselves. Joel explained the Board appointment lengths and some
highlights of the bylaws. He also discussed IBAs, the Christmas Bird Count, the Birdathon, and
Scholarships. Heman volunteered to be Finance Chair.

MINUTES – Review, revise, and approve – All:
Will post when complete.

REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND COMMITTEES:
New for all: Please Bring Written Reports or Email Reports in Advance

REPORTS OF OFFICERS:

Treasurer’s Report – Waddell:
1. The report was distributed by email prior to the meeting.
2. Current balance is $18,800.00.
3. Paid $180.00 for the website.

REPORTS OF COMMITTEES:

A. Programs – All
1. Diann received a call from Bobby Harrison regarding a potential program. $1,000.00
plus air fare. Possibly coordinate with Boulder and Denver Audubons.
2. Diann will talk to a retiring wildlife officer to see if he’d present at a meeting.

B. Membership – Jones:
1. New information to be distributed in a few days.

B. Newsletter – Martin:
Tabled

C. Field Trips – Dillon:
1. Information will be in the newsletter.
2. She is pursuing people to lead trips.

D. Conservation – Miller:
1. Phil, Ron, and Bill went to Senator Salazar’s and Congressman Udall’s meeting on
wilderness designation for Rocky Mountain National Park.
2. Phil and Bill will draft a letter to be sent to Musgrave’s and Allard’s offices stating
displeasure with their bill.

E. Nominating – Johnston:
1. Diann is ready to distribute the nomination list to the newsletter.

NEW BUSINESS:

A. Toner Cartridges – Shelagh:
1. Include a plastic bag with newsletters to encourage membership to donated used cartridges to help FCAS in fundraising.

B. Real Simple Giving – Hurmence:
1. Selling tickets to get deals at the mall. Would cost FCAS $2.50 to buy and would be sold for $5.00. Joel is getting more information.

A. Preparations for 2007 goals planning session – Hurmence:
